Last week from 17th to 20th May 2008, the Wild Geeks Makan Trip kakis have executed the second part of the Peninsula Malaysia discovery mission; this time with northern east coast being the main focus of the itinerary. The first part of Peninsula Malaysia trip was done in Dec 2007. No, this second part is not yet the end of cuti-cuti Peninsula mission.
路人甲: “wah lao.. 几 keng 一下咯,半岛游还分成几个 part”
We got to leave our foot prints in as many places within Peninsula Malaysia as possible, before fuel price is raised up (again), before inflation is getting even steeper (who says our inflation rate is around 4%), and before many places are getting more commercialized with their prices.
With the RM204 Makan Trip voucher to me as birthday present, I’ve participated in this trip with some top-ups.
Here are some quick facts of Peninsula Trip Part 2:
Total participants: 14 convoyed in 3 cars
- Actual distance traveled: 1286 km
- Actual cost: RM 335 per pax
- Day 1: Kuala Lipis, Gua Musang, Kota Bharu
- Day 2: Kota Bharu, Merang
- Day 3: Merang, Kuala Terengganu, Kemaman, Cherating
- Day 4: Cherating, Kuantan
With reference to the above GPS map, the yellow track assembles the journey that we’ve traveled. Thanks to George for keeping record of the trail with his GPS phone; now we can even tell exactly how many u-turn we took during the trip :p

This east coast peninsula trip was organized by Makan Trip, a division of Wild Geeks. Besides, all the photography enthusiasts participated in this trip are part of The Third Eye, another Wild Geeks special interest group.
For this trip, we have all purchased a blue jersey, which was stitched with Makan Trip logo. Wah lao eh… Imagine this, a group of 14 people all dressed in the same shirt, wearing either a Makan Trip Blogger or The Third Eye Photographer tag; a bit too pro right? :p
Besides, out of the 14 participants, 4 were carrying DSLRs (Canon 350, Canon 400, Canon 450, Nikon D200), 3 were carrying prosumer cameras (Lumix FZ30, Sony H9, Kodak DX6490), and another were shooting with his video camera.
As expected, wherever we were, especially at eating places, we became the “attraction” and focal point of many eyes. When 3 or 4 cameras were pointing at the same plate of food, it’s gonna easily attract public’s attention.
Kuala Lipis 路人甲: “你们是学生吗?” (wah! 让我们暗爽一下)
Kuala Lipis路人乙: “你们来参加歌唱比赛的啊?” (wah! 让我们莫名其妙一下, 八丈金刚摸不着头脑)
We suggested to George; print stickers of his face with the label “Makan Trip was here” hahaha. But luckily he’s not that thick face to accept this idea la :p
Next time when you see a group of geeks wearing Wild Geeks or Makan Trip t-shirt, come say “hi” and you’ll be given lifetime free membership to Wild Geeks. (say WoW!)
