KC posted in his Twitter: bloggers should check out scribefire - http://www.scribefire.com/
Immediately, this tweet caught my attention. So, visited ScribeFire site, and again, I was attracted by this quote from Michael Arrington of TechCrunch.com:
…a lot of bloggers swear by it.
Wow! I think this couldn’t be wrong. So, installed the ScribeFire Blog Editor, and I was immediately amazed! It’s just too good!
In summary, ScribeFire Blog Editor is a Firefox extension which allows bloggers to publish and manage their blog posts. At present, the supported blog engines are: Blogger, Movable Type, Drupal, Textpattern, Roller, MetaWeblog API, Blogger and Tumblr. Wow~~ this coverage is easily satisfying 80% bloggers in the world.
Adding a New Blog Account in ScribeFire
2. The supported blog engine will be automatically detected
5. Blog account successfully added into ScribeFire
Isn’t it easy? Once you’re done with the above steps, just wait for a minute for all your blog entries, pages and categories to be imported from your blog system, so that you can manage them locally in your PC. Thus, it doesn’t require active Internet connection to compose your blog post. Once you’re connected, simply pressed the “Publish” button and you’re done.
Creating New Blog Post in ScribeFire
In general, the rich text editor to compose a new blog post is quite comprehensive. Almost all formating features available in WordPress web interface are available in ScribeFire. In addition, ScribeFire even supports Flickr and YouTube search, which allows us to easily search and embed pictures from Flickr or video clips from YouTube.
You can also toggle to HTML source editing mode, if you need to do something which the rich text editor doesn’t support, such as creating a table.
When you’ve done with composing your blog post, you can further select the relevant categor(ies) and tag(s), and publish the entry to your blog with an easy click.
Social Bookmarking
If you’re the type of blogger who shares every of your blog entries to social sites like Facebook, Digg, and StumbleUpon (are you stumbling upon your own blog post? ;), or keep a link of your blog entry at Delicious, there’s also a feature in ScribeFire to easily achieve this.
Moneytizing?
That’s not all. In ScribeFire Blog Editor, you can also login to your ScribeFire Quick Ads account (if you have registered), to enhance your blog moneytizing experience:
- automatic ad optimization
- consolidated earnings payouts and reporting
- direct sales team representing your ad inventory
I have yet to try this out. So no comment on this part hehe.
My Wishlist
Seriosuly, the ScribeFire Blog Editor is really cool! Try out this great free goodie yourself.
At the same time, if I were to submit my wishlist of possible enhancements, these are my requests:
- Add support for inserting coding into post.
- Allow me to specify my Flickr login, to search only my Flickr images.
- Locally keep a copy of all my tags, just like the categories.
- Find (Ctrl+F) in ScribeFire Blog Editor. This is crucial!
